Breaking News:
There are now two Counter Snap screw
systems for all your repair needs. One that works at the
joist (CS-A) and one that works between the joists
(CS-B) Cut-away views of each are provided below.

Important information regarding the
Counter Snap system.
While
both systems "A" and "B" use the same screw
technology, each has its own depth control fixture and
very unique screws. As you can see by the above and
below cut-away views, the CS-A uses a longer
screw with two different thread pitches and a deeper
drill fixture. The CS-B kit (which, by the way
uses the same screw as the Squeak-No-More
kit) is somewhat shorter than the CS-A screw and
requires a shallower fixture. The CS-B kit was
designed for single layer flooring such as linoleum
covered floors and hardwood flooring that may need
re-attachment between the joists.
From the outside, both
Counter Snap fixtures look identical, so care should be
taken not to mix up the fixtures and screws. Using the
wrong screw with the wrong fixture, may cause the screws
to snap off prematurely or, not at all.
If a picture is worth
a thousand words, the below video speaks
volumes. Watch the video to see how easy it is to fix
a squeaking hardwood or linoleum covered floor with our
Counter Snap system.
Unique Design:
Counter Snap was designed
for anyone needing the holding power of a #8 screw, but
cannot live with the repair hole any larger than a
finishing nail. The following graphic shows how the
Counter Snap 1/8" hole compares to a #6 and #8 screw
hole sizes.
Helpful tips
to familiarize yourself with the difference between
using an ordinary screw vs. the Counter Snap screw.
1) You must remember that the
counter snap screws are made to automatically snap-off
when the speeding screw contacts the bottom of the depth
fixture. To achieve this, you need to use the
appropriate fixture, set the drill to the highest torque
setting and use the fastest drill speed available.
2) When installing the screws,
make sure the floor is compressed at the point of
insertion. If you need to kneel down (away from the
fixture) for drilling have someone stand straddling the
fixture with their feet to assist you in this floor
compression process.
3) While pre-drilling is not
always required, if you need to pre-drill do not use a
bit larger than 7/64" (2.7mm) as this may cause the
screw to spin in place thus stripping out the hole.
Before pre-drilling, we recommend lubricating the screws
with a little soap to aid in insertion.
Tip: If you're a first time user,
you might want to make a test repair in an inconspicuous
area like under a piece of furniture or closet.
With the Counter Snap system you actually
achieve the maximum results with the
smallest possible disruption to the
repaired surface. As the Counter Snap
fixture automatically snaps the specially
designed screw shaft 1/4" inch
below the floor or counter surface.
Counter sinking is never required and
concealing the tiny hole requires only
the smallest amount of appropriate surface matching filler.

The
Counter-Snap screws are designed to bind the hardwood
floor and the subfloor together eliminating gaps and stopping the movement
and resulting squeaks. They automatically snap off at the score
point that is set 1/4 inch
below the hardwood flooring. Just fill the resulting small hole
with a wood filler to conceal it and you're done. We make
two different screws and drill fixtures to stop
floor squeaks in hardwood floors. The 2 types of Counter-Snap
kit packages includes
25 scored
screws and matching snap off depth control fixture, a square headed driver bit
and complete instructions for $9.95 ea.
The longer dual threaded CS-A screw is designed for use at the joist. This screw has
two different pitches separated by a section where there
is no thread. This specially designed screw is scored at the top, followed
by 3/4" of thread, then 1 1/4" of blank shaft, and finally 1
1/4" of threads that run to the tip of the screw. This is
referred to as a "doubled-pitched" screw, a design that allows
the top threads to pull the flooring materials closer to the
framing member (joist).
By having the screw designed this way we
are able to have the screw pull the hardwood and
subfloor tight to the joist.
